Preview behavior
Hover-to-play, loop, mute, the defaults you'll change once and forget about
Hover any tile in the Library and the clip plays. That's the preview. Three settings govern how it behaves; pick what fits your hands and move on.
The three toggles
All three live in Settings → Browser:
- Auto-play preview when selected: on by default. The selected tile plays without you hovering. Off means previews only run on direct hover.
- Loop preview: on by default. The clip loops while your cursor is on it. Off means it plays once and stops.
- Muted by default: off by default, which means audio plays. Flip this on if you work in coffee shops and don't want every other tile to start talking.

What each does on hover
Move your cursor over a tile:
- With auto-play on, the previewed clip starts immediately.
- With loop on, when it hits the end, it restarts.
- With muted off, the audio plays through your system output.
Move your cursor away and the preview stops. Click the tile (or arrow to it) and it becomes the inspector's focus, where you can read its tags, rating, and transcript.
A working note
Most editors leave loop and auto-play on, and toggle mute based on where they're working. The reason loop matters: a 12-second clip that plays once doesn't give you enough time to remember what's in it. Looping lets your eyes catch the right frame on the second pass.
If you find yourself fighting the preview (cursor hovers triggering audio while you're typing), turn auto-play off. The grid will go quiet until you actually mouse over a tile. That's usually the toggle that matters most.
